Philadelphia is not one to be shy about things. The 76ers are squaring off against the Denver Nuggets and they had no problem letting their feelings known. The Wells Fargo Center crowd worked like a hive mind as they said “sucks” after every starter in the Nuggets was introduced. Nikola Jokić didn’t go unscathed either.
But he had a special treat. The PA announcer himself had it out for the “Joker”. No. 14 was announced as Jokic instead of N0. 15. If he thought that his “mistake” would get drowned in the flurry of boos and screams, he was going to be sorely disappointed. Let’s take a look at the hilariously cold video!

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Philly fans are known to be one of the fiercest and most loyal fan groups out there. Even though they can be downright cold to opposing teams, they don’t show their teams any mercy when they underperform either.
Philly last went head-to-head with the Nuggets in March 2023. Denver won 116-111 in that matchup and a huge factor was unsurprisingly, Nikola Jokić (25-17-12). Since then, Jokic went on to win the championship and now almost 10 months have passed. Plenty of time for the Sixers to study the 2x MVP.

So while Philadelphia may have some accounts to settle with the Serbian big man, Joel Embiid only has respect for the 5x All-Star.
Embiid has nothing but love for Nikola Jokić
Before the March matchup, the two teams had met in January 2023. It was a remarkable win for the 76ers, dropping 126 against Denver’s 119. An ESPN reporter had caught up with Embiid in-game to talk about the supposed rivalry between two of the best centers in the NBA.
"It's not a rivalry. I love the big fella."

“It’s not a rivalry, I love the big fella, man. Two-time MVP, one of the best players in the league and he’s such a good player, I’m a big fan,” the 6x All-Star said of Nikola. There hasn’t been anything since that states otherwise, not even a rumor. So it’s safe to say that all’s good between the two stars of their respective franchises.
Can Nikola Jokić deal them another loss tonight? Or will the home-court advantage lead to a Sixers win over Denver? Let us know your thoughts below!
