Nike & LeBron James Pamper 19YO Bronny’s USC As They Embark on NCAA March Madness Quest

Bronny James might not be dropping buckets like his pops just yet, but he keeps finding his way into the headlines. He recently made waves during USC’s thrilling upset victory over the no.5 seed Arizona Wildcats. Notably, in the game, Bronny sported a custom-designed Nike LeBron NXXT Gen sneaker. But it turns out, it wasn’t just him who got the sweet kicks! 

In fact, USC Men’s Basketball tweeted today, “Thank you @KingJames for sending us into the postseason in style!” Bronny’s entire team got a special edition of the LeBron NXXT Gen, with a colorway that matches USC’s legendary red, white, and gold. These kicks also flipped the script on the usual design, with reversed double Swooshes. But wait, there’s more! Bronny’s swagger was more elevated than his teammates in the showdown against Arizona, with his signature on the tongue and his number “6” stitched next to a bold “BRONNY” tag on the heel.

The USC Trojans might be the underdog, currently clinging to the 9th seed in the Pac-12 Tournament. But they’ve been playing with a fire rarely seen this season. Their recent tear – three straight wins, capped off by a buzzer-beater that took down the mighty no. 5 Arizona Wildcats 78-65!  Boogie Ellis exploded for a game-high 28 points, while DJ Rodman and Kobe Johnson chipped in with 11 and 15 points respectively while Bronny James bagged 5 points and 6 rebounds coming off the bench.

Young Bron is still finding his rhythm after a heart scare sidelined him early on. Ever since he’s back, he’s been averaging  5.0 points per game, but he’s got a knack for finding open teammates (2.4 assists per game). Defensively, he’s got an average of 0.9 steals per game. His shooting (37.2% field goal rate) is a work in progress, but he’s a lights-out free throw shooter, knocking down 65%.

Now, the USC squad, sporting their new kicks, has set their sights on the no. 8 seeded Washington Huskies. This matchup promises to be a battle. The USC Trojans haven’t just won 3 in a row – they’ve won 4 of their last 5 games and have a 6-4 record in their last 10 games. Two of those losses were heartbreakers – one in overtime and another a nail-biting one-possession defeat.
