Magic Johnson officially entered into the NFL league as a co-owner, as his team, the Washington Commanders played their first game on Sunday. Following the game, Johnson took to X, and shared pictures from his special moment along with a note. The note read, “Cookie and I had just a great experience at our first Commanders game!” Following that, he mentioned the names sporting legends and celebrities who joined him on his special occasion.

Moreover, he dedicated a special message for the Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid. The note read, “NBA superstar, world champion and my man Kevin Durant. Surprise, surprise! Superstar and this year’s NBA MVP Joel Embiid… KD’s incredible mother Wanda Durant…” Here are some other celebrities who joined the MJ. Super Bowl Champion Doug Williams, DC Mayor Bowser, Olympic alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn, Rapper Wale and many more.

Furthermore, the Commanders kicked off their season’s campaign on a winning note. They beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-16, giving a lasting memory to the Lakers legend on his journey as an NFL owner.

Ahead of the opening game of the Commanders, Johnson expressed his thoughts on the special day. He said, “There’s no higher sports league than the NFL, and it’s been hard for us to get into the leagu,” referring to the African-American community, reported ESPN. He also added, “Now all African-Americans and minorities in this country feel like they’re owners of this team, too.” Following that, he further expressed his excitement about his ownership.
