Game-recognize-game is one of the overused remarks in the sports world. Yet, it best describes what LeBron James shares with the 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. They share a wonderful bond and mutual respect, and from time to time display the same on social media. Thus, it was only natural when the King showered his praises on CMC for breaking that 1982-83 Commander legend’s record.

Last week, San Francisco 49ers lost their perfect 5-0 record because of their loss to the Browns. And they were going into this game against the Vikings, with the availability of their running back in question. But there was no doubt or questions in CMC’s mind, and now we know why.

41-year-old record broken.

A record which stood for over 40 years under John Riggins’ name has been broken. He made 15  touch downs in consecutive games to equal OJ Simpsons’ record. And Christian McCaffrey’s 16 touch downs shattered that today. Obviously, LeBron could not stop raving about it. In LeBron’s instagram story, he shared the below post with the comment, “Christian McCaffrey too damn good,” followed by HIFI and fire emojis.

CMC suffered an oblique injury during the previous Sunday loss against the Cleveland Browns. His return to practice after missing two workouts was a boost to the 49ers. Though he felt great after being in the mix, the team was cautious and only listed him as questionable for the above Vikings game.

Despite the best efforts from the San Francisco team, they had to suffer a gritty 22-17 loss against their NFC rival. Thus, it would be bittersweet for CMC to break John Riggins’ record, and yet to see his team fall short.

It is only a matter of hours for the NBA to begin its new season with the ring ceremony at Denver. The Champion Nuggets are welcoming the Lakers to replay their Western conference finals from last season. There is a simmering rivalry between these two teams, which began with the Nuggets’ championship parade in which they went overboard. For a team that has won its first championship to call itself the Laker-daddy is quite an arrogant feat. And Anthony Davis made it known that the Lakers are coming to settle the scores.
