All the anticipation and curiosity regarding the Los Angeles Lakers withered away when they had a silent trade deadline. The Lakers decided to keep their core and run things with the exact unit. In fairness, the new dynamic of the Lakers does make them seem like a worthy contender. All that might be needed is one move to help them achieve that. The rumors are running rampant for them to test out the buyout market. After tonight’s win against the Pelicans, LeBron James and Anthony Davis spoke about this new face.

After being waived by the Toronto Raptors, Spencer Dinwiddie has been left without any NBA shelter. Immediately, the links to him being a Laker were drawn. The former Mavericks guard was even present at the game today, sitting beside none other than Rob Pelinka, the man who ultimately makes such decisions.

No movement has happened yet. Nor has any news been made official. However, the Lakers have begun picturing him in a purple and gold uniform. James and Davis even spoke about what it would be like having him on the team.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis confirm Spencer Dinwiddie’s arrival?

The Lakers put on one of their best offensive shows against the New Orleans Pelicans today. Ironically, it was led by D’Angelo Russell, the man who was the favorite to be traded away. His 30-point outburst secured the win. But the looming question was bound to be about Dinwiddie, who was sitting in the building, almost analyzing to picture how he fit in.

After the game, reporters lined up in front of the Lakers’ pillars – LeBron James and Anthony Davis to ask about having the former Nets starlet as a Laker.

Both had one common adjective for him – a shot maker.

Davis pointed out his time with the Dallas Mavericks as proof of Dinwiddie’s talents. There was nothing but an exchange of respect with AD.

“He’s a big dog, shot-maker, playmaker. … We saw what he did with Dallas, making big plays with them. He’s a well-established player and vet in this league,” said the generational big man when speaking of Spencer Dinwiddie.

LeBron James spoke on the same trajectory. “Playmaking, another ball-handler, another shot-maker,” he said.

D’Angelo Russell chose to remain oblivious and gave a suspenseful answer. “Ya’ll will get to know him soon,” he told the reporters.

Dinwiddie can be a huge scoring force off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers. A certified veteran, the former Nets guard was a 40% three-point shooter only two seasons ago. He is competent at creating space and operating without the ball. It’s a trait the Lakers will admire considering he has to play with ball-dominant stars like LeBron James and Russell.

Dinwiddie knows his way around the court. He isn’t the most rapid or athletic, but Dinwiddie has his offense down to a fine tune. His contributions are also known to ascend during the playoffs as they did when he was playing for the Mavericks and helped them get to the WCF.

This year he is averaging 12.6 points and 6 assists in 48 games played for the Brooklyn Nets.
