The Miami Heat have also opened trade talks as they consider moving pieces around. With somewhat lackluster performances and an expiring contract, the Heat’s 37-year-old point guard is the top option to be moved out. After failing to acquire Damian Lillard in the offseason, the franchise underwent much heat.

And the situation worsened, seeing how Dame expressly made his wish of wanting to move to Miami known. And now, the Heat looks to be ready to separate themselves from another 6x All-Star – Kyle Lowry.

Of course, all of this only works out if, for the sake of it, let’s say, the stars align. More specifically, as Jackson reports, “what player they get, willingness to give up first rounder etc.” But, it’s certain that they are testing the waters. Lowry was instrumental to the Raptors‘ progress in the 2012-21 time period. Having led them to their first-ever NBA championship, his contribution post the Vince Carter era was nothing short of marvelous.

Miami was his next stop. And while he had a decent run during the first two seasons, it seems like the Heat is not for Kyle. He is averaging 8.2 points, four assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game – a stark contrast to the 11.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists (2022-23). Or the 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists (2021-22).

So while he might be dealing with a few apparent struggles, his expiring $85 million contract could be a key aspect of his value on the trade market. Not to mention, the unrestricted free-agent status in 2024. As Jackson noted, if a mutually beneficial deal comes through, the Heat will trade Lowry.

Shocking news emerges as eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Kyle Lowry has removed the Miami Heat from his Instagram bio.

With this news, it seems all but final that Lowry and the Heat are going to part ways.

Miami is still not out of the Damian Lillard failed play

Miami was the frontrunner for landing Damian Lillard. But the Bucks‘ singular determination was no match for the Heat. With the Greek Freak’s subtle hint of a trade, Lillard’s comment on partnering with Giannis, and Milwaukee’s front office thought nothing of the ‘later,’ as they went all-in to get some Dame-Time in ‘Brew City’.

Unfortunately, that left the ‘Magic City’ devoid of any magic. Whatever title hopes they wished to get with the addition of the 7x All-Star went up in a cloud of smoke. And it’s even more sad, considering the Heat has always come this close to the finish line, only to leave disappointed.
