The upcoming matchup in the regular season is an intense battle between the Big D and the Cresent City. Coming in with a solid win against the Dallas Mavericks, the New Orleans Pelicans proved that they are the stronger team by winning the game with a 10-point difference. With this win, they are currently ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference rankings boasting a 24 wins and 16 losses record.
On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks are missing out on their cornerstone, Luka Doncic due to an injury. Luka Doncic is a very important player for the success of the Dallas Mavericks. Without him in their squad, they have a record of winning only two games and losing four. So, if the Big D wants to seek retribution from the Pelicans, they will need Doncic in their squad to increase their chances. But sadly, according to the injury report, Luka Doncic is listed as doubtful due to his ankle injury, which goes to show that the 24-year-old star has not yet recovered fully.
He has been averaging 33.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game, which makes him a frontrunner in the MVP race. And in his absence, Kyrie Irving is taking up the responsibility of the team. Even in the latest match against the Pelicans, he performed exceptionally well and put up 33 points made 6 assists, and also got 5 rebounds which shows his influence on both sides of the court.
The combination of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic is lethal and is very difficult for their opponents to control. So, if Doncic plays, the chances of the Mavs winning are very high. However, if he doesn’t the Pelicans might just be able to get another victory over the Big D and increase their winning streak. But what happened to Doncic and when did he get injured?

During the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Luka Doncic sprained his ankle. Even then he continued the game and ended with a remarkable 31 points, but he was unable to navigate the Mavericks toward victory over the Grizzlies.
