The NBA All-Star Weekend is just around the corner. And fans cannot wait to witness the best players in the NBA competing against each other in Indianapolis. After multiple rounds of public voting, the Inside The NBA panel finally announced the All-Star starters from both Conferences tonight. Let’s take a look at the Eastern Conference Starting 5 for this year’s All-Star game.

According to the votes by the public, media, and the players, Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks will be the captain of the Eastern Conference team. He will be accompanied in the frontcourt by reigning MVP Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics. Tatum’s Celtics co-star Jaylen Brown was a close 4th in the frontcourt voting and missed the cut. The two Eastern Conference starting guards will be Tyrese Haliburton from the Indiana Pacers and Damian Lillard from the Milwaukee Bucks.

As the NBA returns to its older format of East vs. West for this year’s All-Star game, these 5 superstars will team up on February 18. Surprisingly, Giannis Antetokounmpo was named the Eastern Conference captain, while Joel Embiid has arguably had a better season than him.

Embiid is the reigning MVP and is playing even better this season. The Sixers superstar is leading the league in scoring with 36.1 points. He is also dishing out a career-high 5.9 assists. However, Giannis remains a fan favorite as he was also the Eastern Conference team captain last year.

Giannis will also be ecstatic to know that the Milwaukee Bucks are the only team with two players in the All-Star game starting line-up. Damian Lillard joins The Greek Freak as a starter in their first season together with the Bucks. However, the line-up could look different by the time the All-Star game arrives.

What could change in the Eastern Conference starting line-up?

Although the stage is set for the 2024 All-Star weekend, there could be a minor change in the Eastern Conference starting line-up. The second time All-Star Tyrese Haliburton is dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered during a game against the Celtics on January 8. He made a comeback against the Portland Trail Blazers last week but got ruled out for the next three games for re-evaluation. It is still uncertain when Haliburton will return to action.

It will be devastating for Haliburton to miss this year’s All-Star game as the event is taking place in Indianapolis. He will get a lot of love from his home crowd and would not want to miss that. Haliburton has played great all season and is leading the league in assists with 12.6 dimes per game. Do you think the Eastern Conference starters will have the same line-up for this year’s All-Star game?
