The unimaginable will unfold within our eyes in a matter of hours. For the time in the league’s history, the best of the WNBA will take on the greatest shooter of the NBA. Sabrina Ionescu, a New York Liberty star who set the three-point contest on fire by scoring 37, the most in the competition’s history, called out Stephen Curry over the season. Eventually, he accepted, and they were all set to brawl at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

In an unprecedented competition, Chef Curry will shoot from the racks against Ionescu. The Liberty forward has been a phenom since her high school days. She is having her best WNBA campaign and is coming off a record-breaking three-point shooting season last year. Curry holds practically every shooting record that ever exists. The master will take on the student in the anticipated matchup. Nikola Jokic, an All-Star starter and an assertive scorer revealed being envious of Ionescu’s one trait.

The Stephen Curry vs Sabrina Ionescu challenge is all over the All-Star weekend in Indiana. The posters outside the Lucas Oil Stadium and several basketball legends, NBA and WNBA, both making their picks validate the revolution the event truly is. Two elite shooters will be touted against each other, and the biggest of the stars can’t wait.

Two-time KIA MVP, Nikola Jokić admitted he will be a viewer of the contest. However, he also said he wished he could have something Ionescu possesses. “I will see Sabrina but I don’t shoot,” said the Joker while laughing off his inability to be a three-point specialist, unlike Sabrina Ionescu. “I mean just buckets. Getting buckets you know. I wish I play but I am not,”

Even without the frequent three-pointers, Jokić is punishing the NBA. He plays like the traditional big, using his size and strength in the interior to blow past his matchups. He is in the midst of another MVP-worthy season averaging 26.1 points, 12 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game. For a center, his 35% three-point shooting is what makes opponents respect him as soon as he touches the perimeter line.

Ionescu, though, is an expert who has worked relentlessly on perfecting her skill, much like Stephen Curry. She is having her best season averaging 17 points and making 44.8% of her three-pointers. Last season, she broke the record for most threes in a WNBA season when she knocked down 128. The most for Jokić was 111 back in the 2017-18 season.
