Drake has literally been one of the most famous music artists in the world over the past few years. However, this hasn’t stopped him from supporting and attending his hometown team Toronto Raptors games. Drake has gained notoriety for trash-talking opposing players and has taken on the role of an unofficial ambassador for the sole Canadian NBA team.
However, what is less known about Drake is that his fandom extends beyond the Toronto Raptors. He is also a passionate supporter of the Kentucky Wildcats, a team competing in NCAA college basketball. The 37-year-old music star has been spotted on the sidelines of multiple Wildcats’ games. He is even a regular attendee at Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness, an event marking the start of the Wildcats’ basketball season. So it goes without saying that Drake has strong ties with Kentucky alum, Devin Booker and Karl Anthony-Towns.
Just a few hours ago, Drake shared a picture of himself in the Kentucky Wildcats’ locker room alongside a throwback photo from a decade ago featuring current NBA stars Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns. He humorously captioned the post, “Oh no, all my brothers left me,” followed by several laughing emojis.

While Drake’s allegiance to the Toronto Raptors has gained more attention in recent years, his fandom for Kentucky basketball is equally strong. However, Drake’s affinity for Kentucky basketball might seem curious to some fans, given his Canadian roots. However, in a 2009 interview, Drake explained the rationale behind his support for the Kentucky Wildcats. He said, “I just connected with Kentucky,” Drake says. “I performed there, it was just a lot of energy with myself and the University of Kentucky.” Apart from showing up for Kentucky’s games, Drake has a strong connection with the team.
Drake’s die-hard fandom for the Kentucky Wildcats
The Big Blue Madness is a red letter day for everyone associated with the University of Kentucky. It marks the commencement of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball season. Several NBA stars make an appearance on the day, and Drake has also regularly attended the event. Back in 2014, a viral video showed Drake air-balling a shot during Kentucky’s pre-game shoot around.

Drake even shares a strong bond with the Kentucky Wildcats’ head coach, John Calipari. In October 2023, Drake handed out personalized editions of his NOCTA Glide sneakers in Kentucky-inspired colorway to Coach Calipari and the entire Wildcats roster.
