The first half of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game was a scoring fest. All-Stars from both Conferences went deep in their bag and put on a show for the crowd in Indiana. The first half finished with Eastern All-Stars leading the Western All-Stars 104-89. While Damian Lillard led the half in scoring with 22 points, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young had only 2 points in the half. However, Trae’s 2 points might have come on the nastiest dribble move of the night.

The Hawks superstar went “Ice Trae” mode during the second quarter and hit 14-time All-Star Kevin Durant with his signature nutmeg. The 3-time All-Star finished the insane move with an easy floater for 2 points. Trae’s signature move on KD left the NBA World buzzing. Fans took to social media as the Hawks superstar outplayed his idol on the biggest stage. One fan wrote on X, “TRAE MURDERED DURANT.” The NBA World followed suit.

Here’s a few more reactions coming in on the insane gameplay that Young displayed tonight.

A fan believes that Trae Young roasted KD in tonight’s game.

A fan account for King James states KD was “cooked” tonight, along with posting a picture of the King himself enacting to put a “crown” over his head.

For this fan, KD seems to be getting on his burners tonight.

And this fan believes Young’s Nutmeg move stunned Durant.

While Kevin Durant got bamboozled by Trae Young’s nutmeg move, he is not the first player to be a victim of Trae’s sorcery. Nutmeg has become Trae’s signature move, and he has embarrassed countless opponents with that move. Young has even done it multiple times during previous All-Star Weekends.

The Atlanta Hawks star first pulled off the move during the 2019 Rising Stars Game when he nutmegged RJ Barrett. He made the same move the following year on DeAndre Ayton during the 2020 Rising Stars Game. Trae even nutmegged former MVP James Harden during his first All-Star Game appearance in the same year.

Trae Young redeemed himself with his signature move

The Atlanta Hawks superstar even got in some trouble for using his signature move three years ago. Trae humiliated veteran guard Trevor Ariza with a nutmeg during his sophomore season in 2020. Ariza felt disrespected by the move and shoulder-tackled Trae while he tried to go by him. It led to a heated moment between the two players. After the game, Ariza told Trae to never try that move again. However, Trae was unfazed by Ariza’s comments and said, “Nah, I ain’t about to stop nutmegging. That’s going to be in my game until I’m done.”

Trae was initially snubbed from the All-Star selections this season. He got the chance to play after Joel Embiid and Julius Randle could not participate in the event due to their injuries. So, the nutmeg on KD was the perfect response to the voters who did not vote for Trae as an All-Star in the initial selections.
