Prominent NBA Insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania’s rivalry/debate, call what you may, is a fierce one that could never see an end. It mainly stems from the two’s competition over who breaks NBA news first on Twitter, now X. It is also worth noting that this ‘rivalry’ has been mostly amplified by the media and fans in recent years.
Just recently, the Sixers‘ guard Patrick Beverley in an episode of his The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone seems to have sparked this debate once again. Pat shares about an incident where he got the cold shoulders from Shams, despite being from the same city (Chicago).
The time when Shams ignored Pat Bev

Pat says it happened after one Sixers vs Suns game. He recalls, “I see Shams talking to KD. He finished talking to him, I walk past, Shams don’t say one word. Damn Shams, what’s up bro? We from the same city, we done got that far apart?” Pat Bev, regrettably, says that he didn’t realize how far apart they had drifted and remembers thinking, “Damn, m*****f****** can’t say hi to each other now? Like, when did we get to that?”

However, his experience with Adrian was completely different. As per Mr. 94 Feet, Adrian was very welcoming, unlike Shams. The senior reporter even invited Pat to his podcast. The funny thing is, as Pat Bev puts it, “He ain’t even from Chicago.” If we unearth an old X post from Pat, it is clear that he had been involved in the Shams-Adrian rivalry way longer than one would have imagined.
Woj was giving Shams a tough time
The 2023 NBA trade deadline was chaotic, and the two reporters at the forefront delivering fans the latest updates were Shams and Adrian. Well, it turns out that on a few occasions, the latter had delivered new developments in trades before Shams. This prompted Pat to share a hilarious post on X, “I see Woj been in the gym. He giving Shams trouble this year.” The whole rivalry situation is funny considering that the two reporters were once colleagues.

When in 2015, Shams first joined Yahoo! Sports, Adrian, was like a mentor to him. Even before this, as a budding sports journalist in high school, Shams would idolize Adrian. Once Adrian left Yahoo! Sports in 2017, the competition started and it snowballed into something bigger when the fans also started chiming in on it.
While we may not know the specifics of the exchanges between the two, one thing’s for sure. We’ll never know Shams and Adrian’s take on this because they have both refrained from discussing their relationship and have not openly acknowledged their rivalry.
