Zion Williamson was the most exciting No. 1 overall draft pick in 2019. However, his durability has been a significant issue since his rookie year. He has been criticized for being overweight and out of shape, which has led to injuries. In fact, over four NBA seasons, he has appeared in just 114 regular-season games. He missed the entire 2021-22 season with a foot injury and then missed all but 29 games last season due to a hamstring ailment. Many analysts believe that the Pelicans should trade him.?

The Pelicans are now facing a difficult decision: should they trade Williamson before he loses all of his value? NBA analyst Amin Elhassan believes that when Williamson plays, he is a hall-of-fame caliber player. He is incredibly productive when he plays and looking at any sort of metric, he is incredible. The problem is the “When. When is he going to play like that? Is he going to play like that?” Amin says.?He also pointed to Williamson’s recent comments about his diet. In an interview with Gilbert Arenas, Williamson said that he was not “mature” about his dietary choices in the past.“Maybe this is the wake-up call,” Elhassan said. ?Who knows maybe this is the wake-up call between that and being harassed by a pornstar. Maybe this is the thing that makes him say, I gotta be grown up about this?.

The Pelicans have invested heavily in Williamson by signing him to a five-year designated maximum rookie extension worth up to $231 million.?

Seeing Bron?s durability, Zion has intended to follow his diet and health blueprint. On trying to stay in shape and healthy moving forward Zion says, ?Bron got the blueprint, I?m going to try my best to follow it.?

Williamson’s camp has denied the trade rumors. His agent, Austin Brown, said that Williamson is “committed” to the Pelicans. “Zion is focused on his recovery and getting back on the court”, Brown said. “He is not going to be traded”.
