The GOAT debate is one of the most prevalent conversations in the NBA. King James and his Airness, Michael Jordan are often pitted against each other in the battle for NBA supremacy. The two NBA legends have definitely etched their name on the basketball Hall of Fame. However, when it comes to Hall of Fame careers in each franchise they played for, this may not be true.

Michael Jordan has made his name synonymous with greatness. The 6-time champion was a phenomenon on the court, leaving everybody in awe of his abilities. His Airness had the most dominant run in the NBA as the leader of the Chicago Bulls. However, it was not the only team he played for. Two Fox reporters recently brought up his short-lived stint with another franchise. And, interestingly, while lauding his GOAT debate rival, LeBron James.

Michael Jordan is undoubtedly the greatest ever to suit up for the Chicago Bulls. Winning 6 championships with the Bulls, Jordan served as the leader of the franchise’s most successful roster. Jordan announced his retirement after the Bulls won the championship in 1998.

Needless to say, after his legendary stint with the Bulls, the franchise put up his jersey on their rafters. However, his career did not end with the Bulls.

Jordan came out of retirement, just three years after winning his sixth ring to suit up for the Washington Wizards. In his two-year stint with the Wizards, Jordan could not lead the team to a single playoff appearance. Two veteran reporters, Rob Parker and Chris Broussard recently mentioned his stint with the Wizards in a podcast.

Talking about being on individual teams’ Hall of Fames, Parker said “Michael Jordan is not in the Wizards’ Hall of Fame and he shouldn’t be“.

He further added, “He’s an all-time great. He’s in the Hall of Fame, he wore that jersey for two years“.

However, he had some great praises for The Chosen One, LeBron James. He hailed James’ credibility as a Los Angeles Lakers, saying, “I can sit here and say LeBron got the Lakers a ring. So, and obviously he played well….. I think if he didn’t get them a ring, I’m not so sure they still wouldn’t have retired his number“.

Broussard, however, questioned the Wizards for their decision to not retire Jordan’s jersey. “Michael’s an all-time great. If you’re the Wizards, how do you not want to celebrate that guy wore your jersey?” he strongly claimed.

The two veteran reporters had their say about Jordan and James. Parker evidently gave James the upper hand in this particular discussion. But how far can James account for his credibility?

The King had Hall of Fame stints in three franchises

LeBron James entered the league as the most hyped draft prospect of all time. Since his arrival in the NBA, however, he lived up to every expectation set for him. He had an unbelievable career in the NBA spanning 20 years. However, he did not just provide his services to just one franchise.

James played for three different franchises in his legendary career, delivering a championship to each of them. While having one of the most accomplished careers in the NBA, he also ensured he left an indelible mark in every franchise he played for. He won two back-to-back championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He then completed the historic 3-1 comeback in the Finals to bring a championship to Cleveland. The 19-time All-Star also led the Los Angeles Lakers championship run in 2020.

Michael Jordan had one of the greatest careers in NBA history with the Chicago Bulls. However, he could not emulate his success with the Bulls in his stint with the Wizards. LeBron James may have won fewer rings than Jordan but delivered a championship to every franchise he played for. This was probably why Rob Parker claimed that James could be in three franchises’ Hall of Fame.

Parker had good reasons to make his statements about James. However, his bold comment about Jordan’s legacy may raise several questions. Broussard, too, raised some questions about the Wizards’ decision.
