Michael Jordan is undoubtedly one of the Best Basketball Players in NBA history. Winning 6 NBA Championships in 6 finals appearances, the majority consider him the GOAT of basketball. But MJ’s career as a team owner did not pan out like his Hall of Fame NBA career. After the era of Michael Jordan ended in Charlotte, NBA analyst threw shade at the $3.5 Bn rich Bulls legend while hyping up LaMelo Ball and Co.

In the latest episode of Oddball with Amin Elhassan and Charlotte Wilder, the former NBA executive had some motivating words for the revamped Charlotte Hornets franchise. “A new era has begun,” Amin remarked. The Hornets are being led by new ownership of Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin after buying Jordan’s majority stake in the team. The analyst also threw shade at MJ, “Michael wasn’t that great of an owner right?” Even though Air Jordan had a great career as an NBA player, his run as the owner of the Hornets was disappointing, to say the least.

In his 13 years as the owner of the Hornets, Charlotte made it to the playoffs only two times. The Hornets were eliminated both times in the first round and are yet to win a playoff series since 2002.

With new leadership, fans are excited to see what the future holds for the Charlotte Hornets. They picked up 6’9” Forward Brandon Miller as their 2nd pick in the 2023 draft over Scoot Henderson. Even though many fans did not like Charlotte’s decision, Amin thinks Miller could become a superstar in the league. “He is gonna be the next Kevin Durant,” Amin said while talking about Charlotte’s new recruit.

The Hornets also re-signed Superstar guard LaMelo Ball on a 5-year $260 million extension, cementing his position as the franchise leader. The 22-year-old guard has shown immense potential by making his first All-Star team in only his second season. Even though he got injured last season, the Hornets have high hopes for LaMelo Ball.
