The Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic has dealt with a nasal injury over the last few weeks. The injury report ahead of tonight’s clash against the Cleveland Cavaliers revealed that the Slovenian star might miss the game. Along with him, the team also has a long list of players on the report. Following a blow-out loss against the Indiana Pacers, the Mavs may have found themselves in a tricky situation to win a game against the in-form Cavs.
Donovan Mitchell & Co. has been on a dream run lately, rising the Eastern Conference ladder. They have an impeccable record of winning 11 of their last 14 games. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Mavs lost a 7-game winning streak against the Pacers. And to add further insult to the injury, the Mavs’ injury report doesn’t seem to be helping the Mavs’ cause.
The report stated that the team has listed Luka Doncic as Probables for tonight’s game, owing to his broken nose. The star had sustained a nose injury at the start of this month in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Since then, the 24-year-old has been hanging on a loose thread.

Apart from Luka, two other players also have nasal injuries. The rookie Dereck Lively II and Maxi Kleber have also been added to the Probables list. Other than that, the team’s Josh Green is also in the Probables with an elbow sprain, and Dante Exum is “doubtful” to play the game.
Nevertheless, the team will most probably have all these players suited for the game. This isn’t a wild guess but a confident opinion made of HC Jason Kidd’s recent statement. Speaking of Luka’s nose injury, Kidd said, “He will be fine… We are a physical team, the Mavs… All the cuts and broken noses that we have. You should see the other guys.” So, in case Luka misses the night, will Kyrie Irving take over the leadership?
Will the Mavs defeat the in-form Cavs without Luka Doncic?
In the absence of Doncic, Kyrie Irving has stepped on the gas on multiple occasions to win the game for the Mavs. He has put up an average of 27.3 in February with a high score of 36 points. If at all Luka Magic misses the game tonight, Uncle Drew could fill his shoes and anchor the team for the win.

One of the main reasons for Doncic missing the game could be his ugly blow to his face during his last game against the Suns. The superstar refused to wear the protective face mask and he couldn’t reduce the impact of the blow. Derrick Lively II even went up to check on the star.
Dereck Lively II checked on Luka Doncic at least three times throughout the timeout after Doncic was hit in the face. Easy to see why Lively is often praised as a great teammate. pic.twitter.com/xhrUCghtb7
