The glitzy 9th annual Mavs Ball dazzled on March 22nd, shattering fundraising records for The Mavs Foundation. This star-studded event featured renowned entertainment and a live auction with the entire Dallas Mavericks team. The night took a surprising turn when a bidding war for a trip to Slovenia between Kyrie Irving and Mark Cuban escalated, thanks to Luka Doncic.

The plot thickened when Doncic, in a delightful twist, whispered a new offer to the auctioneer. He proposed adding a week of practice and a game in Slovenia with the entire Slovenian national team! This irresistible package secured the win for both Irving and Cuban, who each generously contributed $77,000 to the foundation. Then, in a wholesome turnabout, Luka bid a sum of $33,000 for a personal skills camp with Kyrie! Another bidder, rocking a Kyrie Jersey in his hands, also bid $33,000 for Kyrie’s camp.

The true winners of the evening were the children, women, and families served by The Mavs Foundation. The record-breaking donations will empower these communities throughout the year. This charitable focus aligns perfectly with Luka and Kyrie Irving’s incredible philanthropic efforts, which transcend borders and resonate with the Mavs’ commitment to giving back. It seems Kyrie has found a perfect fit in Dallas, a team that shares his passion for making a difference, and also a teammate Luka, who has the same values and vision when it comes to charitable undertakings.

Mavs superstar Luka Doncic isn’t just a star on the court, he’s a champion for children’s well-being through his Luka Doncic Foundation (LDF). LDF believes all children deserve the benefits of play and works towards improving their health and potential through play therapy, access to play spaces, and organized challenges.

This past holiday season, Doncic and the LDF brightened the lives of hundreds of children and families in North Texas and his native Slovenia. Over two days, Doncic spread holiday cheer and delivered toys and gifts to nearly 275 newborns, children, and teens at schools, care centers, and hospitals in Dallas, Fort Worth, Ljubljana, and Verzej.

My heart has always been with kids,” Doncic said in a statement. “Being in a hospital or facing hardship during the holidays is tough. I want to make these kids’ days a little happier.” Doncic’s generosity extended beyond toys and games. The LDF provided financial assistance to families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cook Children’s Medical Center, helping with expenses like mortgages, rent, and utilities. The Foundation also offered support to Slovenian communities devastated by catastrophic flooding in August 2023.

From record-breaking fundraising to individual acts of kindness, the Mavs organization and its players are shining a light on the importance of giving back, both on and off the court.
