With the trade deadline approaching in two days, clubs are wrapping up their final trade deals. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks are the two clubs in the middle of a trade conversation as both teams have struggled in recent weeks, with Milwaukee losing 4 of their last 6 matches and the Mavericks losing 7 of their last 10.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks are reportedly looking into a potential trade involving Bobby Portis and Grant Williams to fix their present difficulties and improve their respective rosters.

Although the initial trade discussions have begun, the Bucks are not ready to trade Portis for Williams. They are looking for additional assets in exchange for the 28-year-old center, like an additional player or a few draft selections. This is because, even though Portis is currently playing off the bench, he has been an essential part of their team. But since the Bucks are in severe need of defensive assistance, they are prepared to trade Portis for a solid defensive asset.

And, the possible arrival of Grant Williams could bring defensive flexibility into Milwaukee’s rotation, perhaps minimizing the pressure on players like Jae Crowder and Andre Jackson Jr. However, this swap will have repercussions beyond the on-court performance for the Big D. And the reason for that is Williams is a fan favorite who has won over supporters due to his enthusiasm and performances off the bench.
What makes Grant Williams a fan favorite?
The Dallas Mavericks acquired Grant Williams from the Boston Celtics in a sign-and-trade transaction, and since then he has proved to be an asset to the team. With his great combo of defensive toughness and offensive talent, he instantly received the fans’ respect. Despite his 6-foot-6 stature, Williams is able to use his physical attributes to his advantage and excel as a power forward, averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in limited minutes.

However, aside from his on-court skills, Williams’ personality, and his over-confident moments have earned him a lot of love from NBA fans worldwide. With his controversial “Imma make ’em both” free throw incident where he was seen taunting his opponent, saying he would make the free throws but hilariously missed, Williams offers a unique mix of strength and character to the Mavericks. So, if this trade swap goes through, bidding farewell to the 25-year-old forward would be an emotional event for the Mavericks fans.
