According to the Mavs’ latest injury report, Kyrie Irving has been ruled out of tonight’s game. Uncle Drew has missed four consecutive games due to a sprained right thumb, and it is uncertain when he will return to action. With Kyrie out of the lineup, Luka Doncic might have to put up another 50-piece to get his team a much-needed victory. Luka has played great all season, but his true scoring potential comes out when Kyrie is not on the floor with him. He becomes the sole leader of the Mavs in Kyrie’s absence, leading to some historic performances.

Apart from Kyrie, Dante Exum and Derrick Jones Jr. will also sit out tonight’s game. Exum is suffering from a knee injury, and Jones is dealing with an injured wrist. However, Luka can breathe a sigh of relief as the Mavs’ big men, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell, are available to suit up against Paolo Banchero and Co. Powell will make his return tonight after missing 4 straight games due to an eye injury. However, Luka Doncic and Co. might struggle without Kyrie Irving.

The Mavs need Kyrie Irving to win

Even though Kyrie’s absence has led to some historic performances from Luka Doncic, it would be better for the team if Uncle Drew returned to the lineup. Luka has to carry the scoring load in Kyrie’s absence, and that leads to a lack of options in crucial situations. During close game situations, opponents double-team Doncic because the Mavs have no other significant scoring threat on the floor. That was even evident in Luka’s historic 73-point game.

Despite Luka’s 73-point performance, the Mavs only won the game by 5 points. Only 2 Mavs players apart from Luka scored in double digits. Luka Doncic and Co. need Kyrie back in the lineup to perform and achieve their maximum potential. Kyrie has played great all season, averaging 25.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. The Mavs have one of the most lethal offenses in the league when Kyrie is in the lineup. The Mavs fans are hoping for his quick return.
