Marcus Smart Slaps Back at Celtics With a 7-Word Harsh Message

In the offseason, the Boston Celtics traded their veteran point guard Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies. The suspension of ?Ja Morant for 25 games, his addition to the Memphis roster, adds depth and experience to a young team.

However, this added responsibility on the veteran’s shoulders comes after his long stint at Boston. Only days away from the first regular season game, Smart fires back at his former team with a stern 7-worded message.

Recently in an interview with the Athletic, the point guard shared his view on leaving the Celtics. ?You always want to be where you?re wanted, and another team?s trash is another team?s gold. So I?m glad to be here,? said Smart. He further added, ?I?m glad to be on an organization that wants me and sees me (have) great value. So I?m ecstatic and I?m ready to get going.?

Furthermore, Marcus Smart elaborated on his trade to Memphis, saying that he “anticipated” it. The most painful part for the 29-year-old was being informed about the Celtics’ move through a Sams Charania Tweet instead of hearing it directly from them. ?Just figured it would be the next season, just based off my contract and with the new CBA. We already knew that. But it was just the way it happened. I was told everything was good after asking multiple times. Like, ?I?m hearing (rumors), what?s going on?? And they?re like, ?No, you?re good, you?re good, you?re good,” confessed Smart.

Despite Boston being the only team the 29-year-old has ever played for he seems hopeful for his future with the Grizzlies.
