Luka Doncic had another monster scoring night against the Portland Trail Blazers. He went deep into his bag as Scoot Henderson tried to contain him on defense. Luka exposed the Blazers defense and scored 30 points in just 19 minutes. Fans were ecstatic with Luka humiliating the 19-year-old rookie and slammed Scoot on X. One fan gave a deep analysis on Scoot’s defense, “Scoot is so talented and I know rookies are supposed to be bad on defense, but woof that first quarter. Luka took him to school a few times in the paint, and then he went to double Luka at the end of the first and left his man, THJ, one pass away open for a buzzer-beating three.”

The NBA World followed suit. Many fans questioned Scoot’s ability to play in the NBA and doubted his basketball skills.

One fan even called Scoot the second-best player for the Mavericks in tonight’s game.

Scoot Henderson was a highly recruited prospect heading into the 2023 draft. He got picked 3rd by the Portland Trail Blazers. But the 19-year-old has not lived up to the expectations in his rookie year.

Where does Scoot Henderson rank among rookies of his class?

Scoot Henderson is not having the rookie season Portland fans expected. After parting ways with their franchise player Damian Lillard, the Blazers had high expectations for the 19-year-old rookie. But Scoot has failed to garner much attention so far. He is averaging only 10.9 points and 4.6 assists this season, which is far less than some of the best rookies of his class. In comparison, Number 1 pick Victor Wembanyama is averaging 19 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks so far.

The only aspect of Scoot’s game that has stood out is his playmaking ability. He is ranked second among rookies in assists behind Keyonte George. It is still early in Scoot’s career to judge his true potential, but Blazers fans hope for the rookie to pick up some pace and be the next pillar of their franchise.
