The Dallas Mavericks have opened their season with a scorching start, securing six victories in the seven games they’ve contested so far. Their lone loss came against the reigning champion, Nikola Jokic, and his formidable squad of big men. However, they swiftly rebounded from this defeat with a remarkable 124-118 comeback triumph over the Charlotte Hornets. Their impressive streak continued as they faced off against the Orlando Magic, delivering a convincing 117-102 win to boost their record to 6-1.

At halftime, the Mavs found themselves trailing by 13 points, but they orchestrated a remarkable turnaround during the third quarter. Leading the charge was Luka Doncic, who contributed 29 points to propel the Mavs past the Magic. Nonetheless, Doncic humbly attributes the team’s success to two of their most crucial pillars.

Luka Doncic has been setting the NBA ablaze this season. He is posting eye-popping averages of 31.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.9 assists in just seven games. For the Slovenian combo guard, the key to his continuous improvement lies in the highly productive environment he’s found in Dallas. When asked about which specific aspect of his game he’s eager to enhance, Doncic responded with a resounding “Everything.”?

He went on to emphasize the influential role of the Mavericks’ special advisor, Dirk Nowitzki, and their head coach, Jason Kidd. He stated that their mentorship is the driving force behind his journey to become the best version of himself on the hardwood. Talking about Nowitzki, Luka remarks, “I was lucky enough to play with him one season. The things he has done for Dallas are unbelievable, not just as a player but as a person as well. I think he should be a role model for every player in the league“.

When asked about other role models in his career, Luka was quick to mention head coach Jason Kidd’s presence. “Obviously, having Jason, he’s been in my shoes, so he knows what it is about. One of the best passers in the world,” Doncic said. He then wrapped up his praises with, “I am lucky to listen to them”.
