Since 2012, the television series ‘Backstage: Lakers’ has been providing a perspective on what goes on behind the scenes when the Lakers stars are not playing on the court. Ever since LeBron James became a part of the franchise back in 2018, the show has captured various moments of him dropping his ‘player’ persona and focusing on the other important things close to his heart. The recent episode had him talking about what it means to be in the life of someone like his 9-year-old daughter Zhuri. And he wasn’t the only one to do so.

A clip uploaded by Spectrum Sportsnet on social media highlighted a clip from the episode. It featured the ‘James father-daughter duo’ playing darts and a few other games. Along with LeBron, the Lakers power forward Anthony Davis could also be seen hanging around with his 6-year-old daughter Nala at a fair organized by the franchise. Along with highlighting the wholesome moment, both players could also be seen in the clip talking about what it means to be a ‘Girl Dad’.

“Can I define ‘Girl Dad?’” said LeBron whilst engaging himself in a deep thought. “Obviously, I’m one of them”.

By taking the lead from his team’s lead scorer, Davis himself highlighted the privilege that comes from being a father. He stated “There is no better feeling than being a ‘girl dad’”. Despite already being the father to two wonderful boys, the 9x NBA-All Star feels that the relationship he shares with his daughter is something completely unique.

“Just having that love for your daughter….she’s a princess” said Davis.

The team’s secondary power forward Taurean Prince had his own thoughts to share on this topic. He stated that being a ‘Girl Dad’ means “having emotions when you need to see things from a different perspective, being that figure that your daughter could look up to as an example of someone she may wanna be with one day”.

While NBA fans have come to love LeBron James the player, they also have a special place in their heart for his ‘fatherly’ persona. Any moment featuring the four-time NBA champion with his little bundle of joy is something that is guaranteed to melt the hearts of his followers. Similarly to Davis, LeBron realizes the unique feeling that comes out of being a ‘girl dad’.

Similarly to her father and her elder brothers, Zhuri James has taken a liking to sports. While she is nowhere close to playing at the professional level, LeBron James still ensures to be there to cheer his 9-year-old on.

A couple of months ago, the NBA star took to his official Instagram account to share a post with his 150 million + followers. It featured him sitting on the stands while Zhuri participated in a game of volleyball at her school. Two of the clips featured LeBron proudly displaying his daughter’s on-court skills. The third clip showed him cheering her on by shouting “Let’s go Munchkins” for everyone to hear. This led to Zhuri jokingly giving her father a side-eye and a look that may have spelled “embarrassed”. The reaction would be perfectly normal for someone who was just ousted for being referred to as her father’s “munchkins”.
