No one can contest that Kevin Durant is one of the NBA’s most talented scorers. LeBron James knows this for a reason. Which is why he had to put multiple defenders on him tonight. A versatile player, with an incredible shooting range, and great use of athleticism – all make him championship material.
Talking to reporters post-game, LeBron couldn’t stop his praises about the Slim Reaper. Given their history and how both the players are legends in their own rights, it is only natural to get the truth out there.

When asked about going against Durant, he says, “It’s special, going against KD, one of the greatest ever to play this game … We both have made our mark in the history of this game … Unbelievably talented guy … it’s always an honor to go against him.”

In his 16 seasons of career, the Slim Reaper has averaged 27.3 points per game. He is ahead of current active players in terms of scoring – LeBron James has 27.2 and James Harden averages 24.7. Talking to a reporter right after their win about trapping KD, King James says, “You got to, you have to put two, three bodies on him. He’s that good. He’s really good. I mean, he’s great. I’m sorry, don’t let me disrespect Kevin Durant.”
Having had to share a court with Curry, Thompson, and Irving meant that KD had less time with the ball. That does not mean he cannot lead a team on his own. The 2021 postseason saw Durant carry the Brooklyn Nets single-handedly to a 7-game contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. Durant’s ability to score against his opponents or over his defenders is a feat that has never been doubted by anyone.
The “King” James vs the Slim Reaper – the number of times they went head-to-head
The NBA world had been starved of KD-LBJ faceoffs for almost five years. And now finally, they met back this season. It was just as electrifying as everyone had hoped for. Of course, the Suns’ debut would have been a big deal if all three could play on the court at the same time, but we have been over that, many times.
James and Durant have played a total of 37 games, of which 23 were regular season and 14 were playoffs. Among the 37 games played, KD won 15 while Bron hit home with 22 victories. Durant’s 15 include 6 season wins and 9 playoff wins. And the only place the King lost. James won 17 regular season wins while he managed to clinch just 5 in the playoffs.
