LeBron James was asked what the Lakers need to add before the trade deadline to turn their season around. The 4-time champion shut down all the rumors with his response, “I don’t play fantasy basketball.” LeBron said that talking about what the Lakers do not have was disrespectful to his teammates who show up to work every night. “I don’t do that to my teammates.” King James added. He is happy with the way the Lakers have played in the last two games.

LeBron James and Co. blew out the Dallas Mavericks tonight and played great from start to finish. LeBron, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell put on a clinical display against the Mavs defense and combined for 82 points. Meanwhile, the Lakers’ defense shut down the in-form Kyrie Irving and limited him to only 12 points. LeBron claimed he does not have the trade deadline in mind and is focused on the next Lakers game. LeBron James and Co. will face the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

D’Angelo Russell could solve the Lakers’ problems

The Lakers would not have to look for a third star if their role players keep performing like they did tonight. Rob Pelinka had high expectations from young players, including Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and Jarred Vanderbilt, before the season started. But each one of them has had an underwhelming season so far.

However, D’Angelo is slowly starting to regain his momentum. He played great in the last few games and helped the Lakers win some crucial games. Russell has scored a total of 101 points in the last four games.

He could be the third star that the Lakers need. All Russell needs to do is be consistent in his performance. He is averaging 15.7 points and 6.1 assists. To turn the Lakers season around, he needs to step his game up to average at least 20 points per game. That will take the load off AD and LeBron’s shoulders, and they would not have to scour the trade market to solve their problems.
