Lakers star player LeBron James has been recently looking to make a mark during the ongoing NBA season. Despite being 39 years of age, the four-time NBA champion has been going strong and staying relatively healthy during the games. This streak of his, however, seems to have been impaired due to a recent incident.

LeBron James was recently downgraded on the injury report as he was suffering from a left ankle peroneal tendinopathy. This resulted in him missing out on the highly anticipated clash between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. However, LeBron fans can now breathe a sigh of relief after the latest update.

According to TNT insider Chris Haynes, LeBron James’ ankle injury will no longer be a hindrance to the player, allowing him to play in the upcoming game against the San Antonio Spurs. The update would prove to be an upsetting one for the latter team, given that they may have been counting on James’ absence, combined with Victor Wembanyama’s prowess, to secure a much-needed win.

Prior to the update, James had expressed confidence in the Lakers and expressed how, for the moment, the priority for his teammates and himself was ensuring that everyone remained healthy.

“The most important thing for me is definitely my health, where I’m at right now, where our team is leaning,” said James in a statement. “We’re trending in the right direction. Obviously, with our Laker team, it’s been about health all year. Trying to do what’s best for me for the betterment of the team.”

How has LeBron James been performing during the ongoing NBA season?

Despite James’ recent absence against the Warriors, the Lakers star has remained one of the most consistent players of the season. Throughout the 49 games he has played, James has succeeded in securing an average of 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists. Given that the Lakers are currently the 9 seed on the Western Conference table, James and his teammates may be looking to build up their momentum during their next 25 games to have a shot at the championship title.

The NBA’s All-Time scoring leader is currently less than 150 points away from becoming the first player in league history to reach the 40,000-point mark. Knowing the stakes in front of him, the player is looking to preserve his energy as well as his limbs. By playing for only 14 minutes in the All-Star Game, all in the first half, James stated that he was trying “to be as healthy as I can be physically”, since “this last part of the season is very important for us.”
