Lakers announced one day after Kobe?s 45th birthday that they will unveil the statue of the Lakers legend in Crypto Arena on 2.8.2024. This date was picked to pay tribute to Kobe and Gianna?s jersey numbers 8, 24, and 2. The Black Mamba will join Lakers legends like Shaquille O?Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Magic Johnson as the players who have their statue outside the Lakers’s home stadium.

Kobe’s statue unveiling event will take place on February 8 before last season’s Western Conference Finals rematch. After an improbable run to the Western Conference Final last season, the Lakers were swept by Nikola Jokic?s Nuggets in an embarrassing series loss. LeBron and Davis will be looking to get some retribution on February 8 when both sides meet on Lakers? home court. Kobe Bryant?s statue unveiling will overshadow the Jokic-James showdown, but that comes as good news for the Lakers.

Lakers ticket prices go through the roof for the historic day

With major events lined up, February 8 is destined to be a historic day for the City of Angels for multiple reasons. So, NBA fans have already marked their calendars and started purchasing tickets, skyrocketing the ticket prices. The Lakers-Nuggets matchup, along with Kobe?s statue unveiling, has already made that day?s tickets the most expensive tickets in the 2023-24 NBA season.

The cheapest ticket prices for February 8, according to TickPick are $414 for a seat in the nosebleeds, which is almost 4 times higher than the average ticket prices. The most expensive courtside seats to witness this historic moment are going as high as $18,500. This is not the first time Lakers ticket prices have gone this high. Last season, Lakers tickets were selling at absurd prices to witness King James break Kareem?s all-time scoring record against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
