The New York Knicks lost in a hard-fought battle against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. Jalen Brunson was the star of the night. He has been the star for quite some time now. It would seem like Brunson is taking the weight Julius Randle is supposed to carry. Tonight’s game, though, saw Randle in slightly better form than when he went against the Cavaliers.

Randle missed 15 of his 20 shots and the second half saw him nowhere in the court. And though Brunson played a spectacular game, they had to ultimately fall for the dominant Bucks in a 110-105 loss. The Knicks coach wasn’t too happy about it either.

Talking to reporters after the game, Tom Thibodeau had enough of ‘Randle’ questions being aimed at him. He finally gave it straight to them. “If you’re open, you shoot. If there’s three guys on you, you hit the open man. It’s simple, it’s not hard,” he said.

Julius Randle, when asked about his performance, said, “I’m just not in rhythm … everything just seems a little bit off. ” There were a lot of things that were “off”. Looking at his last 17 games, Randle just shot 33%. He finished 1 for 9 on 3-pointers and his offense was the lowest point of the night.

On the bright side, his defense was slightly better, getting 12 rebounds. That does not make up for the fact that Randle’s performance was nowhere near good. But the Bucks had a good game, with Lillard and Lopez stealing the spotlight.

Damian Lillard and Brook Lopez were pretty much running the show. Lillard scored 30 points and turned a clutch basket from a handoff off Giannis. When Dame was acquired by the Bucks, it was to work closely with Milwaukee’s superstar, Antetokounmpo. Watching how the two are playing off of each other, the huge hole in their pockets seems much smaller.

Giannis had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists to his name against the Knicks. Taking in suggestions from Lopez, Coach Griffin changed strategies, and it paid off. Though Brunson tried to turn the tide around in the second quarter by hitting a 3, Lillard got one of his own, putting the Bucks back on top with a 104-103 lead. Lopez threw in the final block of the night, getting two free throws, of which one he made.

Lillard’s victory-sealing free throws were what put New York down. All things considered, it was a hard battle on both sides. But there can only be one victor, and it was Milwaukee’s turn.
