The Golden State Warriors‘ dream 5-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday night. The Cleveland Cavaliers set up a strong defense to restrict the ace shooters of the Bay Area. While fans were left with disappointment, the 4x NBA Champion Klay Thompson has something else to look forward to. The Dubs play their next game immediately on Monday night against the Detroit Pistons and China Klay expressed his excitement to meet his “Champion” ex-teammate.
Thompson has had a decent season so far, contributing crucial buckets to the side. Importantly, the 33-year-old star dropped a game-winning clutch bucket against the Sacramento Kings. Driving on the confidence, the star is all set for the upcoming match-up against the Pistons. He isn’t looking forward only to playing the game, but also to meeting his ex-teammate.

During the post-game press conference, after the Sunday night game, a reporter asked Klay Thompson about his reunion with James Wiseman. Notably, Wiseman played his rookie season with the Dubs in 2020 and he was traded to the Pistons earlier this year. Klay had nothing but excitement to meet the 22-year-old star. The rising star had a tough journey, sustaining multiple injuries during his time with the Dubs. Importantly, he rehabbed alongside Thompson, who was recovering from a torn ACL.
He said, “It will be great to see James. Me and James spent many many days and weeks together rehabbing. I excited to see him, especially just as a friend.”
Furthermore, when the reporter asked about Wiseman’s inconsistent career, Thompson had a perfect reply. He added, “The guy’s a champion… he is extremely young. It’s not linear to make it to greatness in this league. It takes time.

After multiple seasons of suffering from injuries, the Warriors have all their players intact. However, does the team have another worry to attend to?
Warriors lose their winning streak
During the last season, the Dubs struggled to win their road games and, importantly, missed Stephen Curry for many games due to a shoulder injury. In this season, apart from the Sunday contest, the team had won all their road games. Moreover, the team’s second unit was considered one of the best in the league ahead of the season. Will that end up as the drawback for the side, as they failed to meet their expectations against the Cavs?
