The Sacramento Kings have started off the season with a bang, beating the Utah Jazza with a wide gap of 130-114. However, the Kings have a bone to pick with the Golden State Warriors who dampened their celebration. They suffered a 122-114 loss against the Warriors during their second game of the season.

Their third game for the Kings was another victory against the Lakers, but this time, it came with a price. Their point guard, De?Aaron Fox, suffered a right ankle sprain that took him out of the game. Now that the Kings are prepping for another face-off against the Warriors, uncertainty surrounds his redemption return.

De?Aaron Fox will miss the game against the Warriors

During the fourth quarter on Sunday night against the Lakers, Fox had an awkward landing. This was right after a drive to the basket that resulted in him leaving the game, only to return and then exit again during the overtime due to persisting pain. The Kings have now confirmed that Fox will miss the game against the Warriors on Wednesday. It is uncertain when he will return, but the team is hopeful that he will be up and running again in no time.

Apart from Fox, forward Trey Lyles, who strained his left calf during a pre-game warmup leading up to the preseason game against the Warriors, will also be out on Wednesday’s game. Trey is yet to make his season debut. However, he will have ample time to recuperate until the Kings’ next game with the Houston Rockets on Saturday. The rest of the players are in good shape and ready to tackle the Warriors again in the hopes of securing a win this time.

He was just getting started

Despite a rough start to the season with just 18 points over 33 minutes against the Jazz, De?Aaron Fox came back stronger in the next game. He had a strong finish against the Lakers, despite his injury, with 37 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds. In fact, he had been keeping up a good streak until the ankle sprain sat him out. Even during the loss against the Warriors, Fox dropped 39 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.

It looks like Fox was just warming up to the season. The Kings’ offense cornerstone has been instrumental in their early-season success. His presence in the lineup makes a huge difference in the team’s performance. To make up for this, head coach Mike Brown has opted to pull up defensive stalwart Davion Mitchell in place of Fox in the starting lineup.
