Juju Watkins has been touted as one of the biggest rising stars in college basketball. The USC Trojans‘ guard played her college debut game on November 6 against the Ohio State Buckeyes last year. In the 83-74 winning game, she dropped 32 points, breaking the USC record for the most points in a freshman debut. The record was set in 1990 by Lisa Leslie.

The 18-year-old freshman took her game to another level on Friday against the Stanford Cardinals. The USC Trojans secured a 67-58 win over the hosting team. More than the victory, the game revealed the dominating presence of Juju on the hardwood. She scored a whopping 51 points out of the Trojans’ 67 points! In addition, she contributed 11 rebounds and two assists.

No one is more excited about this achievement than LeBron James, who took to Instagram to congratulate his ‘lil sis’. Bron shared a story with an image of Juju in her USC jersey and wrote, “I thought I told you to Cut it OUT lil sis!!!!” Tagging Juju, he continued, “Oh yeah I did say don’t! Kill your [foot] on their necks! Ayyyyyeee!

LeBron can be often seen encouraging and supporting the young superstar, sometimes showing up to her games or giving her shout-outs on Instagram. This time was no different, as he went all out and for the right reasons. Juju’s 51 points was the first 50-point game in Division I this season, setting a record for the highest-scoring number in NCAA DI Women’s Basketball this season.

Unlike LeBron’s ‘lil sis’ tag for Juju, no, they are not blood-related. However, her association with the Bron family can be attributed to King James’ oldest son, Bronny. Like Bronny, Juju also graduated from Sierra Canyon School and later enrolled in USC. Both were named McDonald’s All-Americans last year. Seeing Juju’s skill and potential, LeBron’s respect for her grew over time.

Juju is leading the USC Trojans Women’s basketball team in points, assists, and steals, with averages of 27.2, 3.3, and 2.7 respectively. Unsurprisingly, her 51-point game on Friday accounted for 76% of the team’s 67 points against Stanford, making it the highest percentage garnered by any DI players in a game over the previous 25 seasons! This is indubitably a star in the rising, who will soon change the landscape of women’s basketball in the future.
