The reason the NBA has amassed a massive fan following is majorly due to the stars sparking the league. Dominant feuds and feats of individual brilliance are the central narratives that drive the global audience of the league. In the past decade, two players have undoubtedly permeated the public consciousness as greats, but both stars’ paths to the top are similar yet different. The two veterans are of course, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Both these unicorns went at each other in the NBA finals through the 2010s as part of two separate teams.
Although in the end, LBJ and KD both have their fair share against each other, mutual respect is really where their greatness lies. In a recent post on X, Durant seems to be addressing Bron’s longevity in the league at age 39. The Slim Reaper admits to some things about James’ ethics that he may have overlooked in the past.

“When you 39 in your 20th year, and then half your life is in the league, and then you played against 40% of the players that’s ever played in the league, it’s just like that longevity has to mean something,” admitted Durant.

KD further went on to admit in the same clip that, “I really appreciate somebody who’s been in that sh*t for a long time,” referring to LeBron. He also admitted that one only understands the value of that longevity once they have spent at least 15 or 16 years as a vet, and still to continue to wake up and work hard with the same rigor is commendable.
“That’s what I appreciate about LeBron, and that I overlooked and underestimated it when it comes to him,” said KD in the end. It’s almost heartwarming to see another all-time great player acknowledge his fellow future hall of fame. For Kids past a certain age, the iconic playoff showdown between the Slimp Reaper and the Akron Hammer will remain the fondest NBA memories.
