Noah Lyles’ comments about the NBA have sparked a huge debate in the NBA world. The 6-time World Champion trashed the NBA for misrepresenting their championship as the World Championship. “World Champion of what? The United States?” exclaimed Lyles after winning gold in the 2023 World Athletics Championships. His comments rubbed many NBA superstars the wrong way, and they responded to the 26-year-old athlete on social media.

Washington Wizards legend Gilbert Arenas did not shy away from the discussion and addressed Noah’s comments on his podcast, Gil’s Arena. Arenas mocked multiple NBA All-Stars in response to Noah Lyles.

Gilbert Arenas goes off on Noah Lyles’ NBA comment

Gilbert Arenas’ media career has skyrocketed because of his hot takes and over-the-top personality. That, combined with his experience as an elite NBA player, makes his takes go viral instantly. In the latest episode of Gil’s Arena, Arenas went on a rant about Noah Lyles’ NBA take, while picking the NBA players from the USA over the entire world. Former NBA players Brandon Jennings, Kenyon Martin, and Rashad McCants joined Arenas in the debate.

In support of the American NBA players, Arenas picked a fantasy USA vs. the World roster with Jennings to assess the best players on each side. Jennings picked several all-star players in favor of the World, including Giannis, Jokic, and Luka. But Arenas got enraged when the former NBA guard picked Stephen Curry’s teammate, Andrew Wiggins, on his team. “I want you to say Wiggins again.” Arenas said, mocking Jennings’ outrageous pick multiple times. Arenas was so shocked by the Wiggins pick that he forgot Timberwolves star KAT’s full name, “We will give you Karl Anthony Thompson.” The 3-time All-Star mocked several other NBA stars, including Pascal Siakam and Kristaps Porzingis.

Gilbert Arenas picks Team USA over Team World

According to Gilbert Arenas, there is no need for the best American basketball players to go to other countries and play because the cream of the crop is already competing in the NBA. With the grueling NBA schedule, it is hard for players to compete elsewhere. To reinstate the USA’s dominance over the world, Arenas pointed out, “We don’t have the Top 15 on our team, and we are gonna win gold.” talking about the Team USA roster in the ongoing FIBA World Cup.
