A former NBA Champion was recently on the show NBA on ESPN, giving his perspective about one NBA player who’s currently playing on the roster. Apparently, his opinion didn’t go well with the fans who were all over the comments section quickly. Former NBA players are pretty well-known for having their opinions about current NBA players, and some analyst programs welcome them as well.

So, nobody would have anticipated this reaction by the fanbase, but this particular former NBA Champion is not an NBA fan favorite when it comes to perspectives about the game and its players.

Kendrick Perkins was active from 2003 to 2011 and has played for the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Cavaliers?and the New Orleans Pelicans majorly. Post his retirement, he has been active as a broadcaster and analyst. NBA fans take Kendrick’s comments with a pinch of salt because of several reasons, including Kendrick’s stats during his career, including an average PPG of 5.4.

He recently had a hot take on Ben Simmons, who is now signed up with the Brooklyn Nets, who took him under their fold for a whopping $177,243,360.

He said, “He’s turned 27. An NBA player’s prime is 27 to the age of what, 33-34. So, basically, Ben Simmons has officially entered the prime of his career. And when I look at Ben Simmons and this Brooklyn team that’s thoroughly constructed, you have Cameron Johnson, you have all these pieces around him that are shooters, right? You have the opportunity to let Ben Simmons be a facilitator. You have an opportunity to let Ben Simmons push the pace. The only thing that Ben Simmons needs to focus on, is finishing around the basket.”

Simmons has been playing basketball since his college days. When drafted, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers and has been with the Brooklyn Nets since 2022. His average PPG is 14.7. Simmon’s form came under scrutiny during the 2020-2021 season.
