It was a very inconsistent season for the fans of the Dallas Mavericks. On one hand, they lost Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks, on the other hand, they traded for one of the best point guards in the league, Kyrie Irving. It devastated the fans when the Mavericks didn’t qualify for the playoffs in spite of having probably the best backcourt duo in the league.
The Mavericks announced a new addition to the team that has championship experience and averages 10.6 points per game. The Mavs fans didn’t seem too thrilled with this announcement.

It would be safe to suggest that it left the Maverick fans a little underwhelmed by the signing of a 34-year-old power forward, who is past his prime.

Fans also pointed out that Markieff Morris had an altercation with Luka Doncic’s good friend, Nikola Jokic. The incident happened in November 2021. Jokic smashed Morris from the back after Morris insinuated Jokic. Because of this incident, Morris was sidelined for four months due to back injury.

A New Dawn for the Mavericks
After a pretty underwhelming end to last season in which the Mavs couldn’t even qualify for the play-in tournament. The fans would be hoping for a far better season. There were chemistry issues with the team last season, with the Dallas Mavericks being 2-11 in clutch time when both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving played. After a full offseason of preparation, in which both players had time to understand each other’s game, the chemistry issues should not be a problem for Mavs head coach, Jason Kidd.

They have a wonderful combination of young players such as Jaden Hardy, Josh Green and Derrick Lively II. And this is along with savvy and seasoned operators such as Maxi Kleber, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Richaun Holmes. But other than Luka and Kyrie, the Mavs don’t have any particular game changers in their roster. Another problem with the Mavs roster is that they do not have good perimeter defenders. They traded their best perimeter defender, Dorian Finney Smith, to Brooklyn for Kyrie, and they also lost Reggie Bullock to Spurs for 3 second round picks. This Mavericks team is very different from the team that lost in the Conference Finals, two seasons ago.
