Former NBA player and coach Mark Jackson recently released the fifth episode of his newly launched ‘The Mark Jackson Show’. With his son acting as co-host, the 58-year-old chose to devote the bulk of the episode to discussing LeBron James and how his 19-year-old son Bronny James’ path to the NBA looks.
Jackson drew attention to a conversation he heard once on the radio about how Bronny needs to devote more time to his college basketball career before making an entry into the league. This was something that the former Warriors coach disagreed with since he believed that the only way the young athlete would get better was if he got a chance to play alongside an NBA team. Furthermore, Jackson revealed that it doesn’t matter if Bronny has reached the required potential because whichever franchise would acquire him would also have the advantage of having the 4x NBA champion by their side.
“LeBron James on record already telling you he wants to play with his son,” said Jackson. “I’m gonna force his hand by drafting Bronny James and now I win by getting LeBron James in uniform”.

Through his comments, Mark Jackson highlighted that LeBron will follow whichever franchise has Bronny, no matter whether he would be earning higher or lower than he does with the Lakers.
“At the end of the day I get LeBron James, it’s good for business” Jackson continued. “It’s a wise business decision”.
While the 1989 All-Star chose to talk about this particular angle, his son and co-host chose to discuss the alleged enormous pressure that comes out of being LeBron James’ son and how people should cut Bronny some slack when his father chooses to support him in his endeavors.
“So when I see people on media sit up and say ‘This dude is this’ or ‘You shouldn’t pour into Bronnie’ or ‘We jump the gun on him’, LeBron James is Bronny’s father” said Jackson’s son. “At the end of the day, that’s his son and he have every right as a father to speak life into his son”.

LeBron James defended his son amidst NBA draft chatter
Just like Mark Jackson highlighted, LeBron James is making the best efforts from his side to ensure that his eldest gets the chance to shine in the NBA. From publicly promising to join the same franchise as him to defending him against alleged trolls, the Lakers champion is standing right alongside his son on his journey.
Despite LeBron’s voice of support, many critics continue to claim that Bronny does not have it in him to make it to the league. The same was highlighted barely a few weeks ago, when NBA mock drafts with Bronny’s name absent started to pop up on the internet, especially on X. Even in that situation, LeBron defended his son by taking to social media and stating “let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball”.
