It was the game of big men on Monday night. And it was Joel Embiid, who came out victorious at the City of Brotherly Love. He dropped a career-high and franchise-high 70 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers take a comfortable 123-133 win. On the other hand, rookie Victor Wembanyama also showed his class with 33 points. However, it wasn’t any close to the reigning MVP’s masterclass.

Embiid stunned the NBA world with his world-class performance dropping 70 points with 18 rebounds, shattering several records created by the legends in the past. Even the superstar LeBron James couldn’t restrict himself from sending out a praise via his social media handle.

While he was also unofficially declared as the winner of his first contest against Wemby, the Cameroonian didn’t think that way. In fact, he was left in awe after his first-ever clash against the 7 ‘4 baller. Following the game, he said, “He’s great, man. He’s got everything. Size, skill, he’s got everything. He’s going to bring a lot of problems for a lot of guys in this league. He’s extremely talented.”

The entire hoops nation was behind Embiid, as he surpassed several greats during his pursuit. Importantly, he truly became part of the Philly family after beating its franchise greats, Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson. Amid this historical night, Wemby’s night went by unnoticed. The French rookie sensation dropped 33 points.

The 20-year-old went on toe-to-toe against the reigning MVP, dropping 33 points with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Moreover, the rising star was seen guarding and going against Embiid on multiple occasions during the game.

Moreover, during the post-game press conference, the Sixers star hoped that he doesn’t have to guard Wemby during his prime years.

In the recent episode of From the Point, the Atlanta Hawks star piled praise on the 20-year-old amidst his rookie season. He said, He’s gonna be a beast in this league as long as he can play.”

Commenting on his towering 7 ‘4 stature, he made a valid point. He added, “His presence on the floor alone is impactful, and just on defense, offense, he can do pretty much everything. … He has all the intangibles to be the best player ever. The accolades and team accolades as his career goes on is what’s gonna determine that.

The hoops community has to wait for several more years to figure out if these statements come true.
