The Miami Heat has been taking loss after loss after their season debut win against the Detroit Pistons, tallying it up to 1-4 in the five games they have played so far. The most recent one was a 109-105 loss against the Brooklyn Nets. Despite the loss, fans were awed by the 23-year-old guard Tyler Herro, who had an amazing run in the game, overshadowing the other veteran players.
While Tyler took the spotlight with his memorable performance, this raised questions about the team dynamics and especially the role of 6X NBA All-Star teammate Jimmy Butler, who wasn’t seen doing much for the team. This has led fans into a corner about their overreliance on the team’s superstar. Jimmy, who had carried the team to the finals last season has now been sidelined by Tyler’s comeback.

Jimmy Butler isn’t doing much in the game
Tyler had a rough start to the season after being berated with hate all summer. He suffered a right-hand injury during last season’s playoffs that made him sit out the Conference Finals. Fast forward to this season, Tyler struggled to drop the buckets during their season’s debut game against the Pistons. However, he made a comeback in the game against the Celtics.
Ever since, it looks like nothing can stop the young player at this point, as he has been topping the charts of the highest scorer in the Heat. On Thursday’s game against the Nets, Herro once again proved his skills with 30 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. While Tyler has been leading the team, there wasn’t much from veteran and star player Jimmy Butler, and this has the fans worried. On a Reddit post about Tyler’s performance, a fan wrote, “Jimmy is just standing around, he?s not even cutting, and he?s usually a good off-ball player.”
However, what is worrying the fans is a new team dynamic that has completely thrown the team chemistry off-balance.
Fans want to see more of Jimmy
We hear you, fans. Jimmy finished the game with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, which is not a bad performance in itself, but it looks like fans are hungry to see his moves on the court too. The team seems to have taken on an unusual dynamic that needs to be worked out. A user commented, “There?s a clear emphasis on letting Herro get his with insane shots and usage, which props to him he is getting so far.?But for whatever reason it?s leading to Jimmy just standing around, not being involved and that means not impacting the game. Just strange feel and tempo to the team.”
Despite this, there is an understanding that Jimmy hasn’t been having high usage in the games and that there needs to be a balance among the players.
Although Jimmy might be a good off-ball player, there still seem to be some places in which he is missing out, as pointed out by this user.

At this point, it looks like if the team can settle on team synergy and cohesion, it might benefit the players and the team to a greater extent. With an explosive Tyler Herro on board as well as Jimmy Butler, one of the best players in the league, the Heat might be seeing themselves at the Finals again if proper coordination can be maintained.
