James Harden seems to be having a good run with the Clippers after forcing himself out of Philly as the season rolled around. The Beard might be having a good time, but the Clippers are struggling to stay afloat this season, coming off a close 106-100 win against the Rockets after suffering six back-to-back losses. They have trickled down to 5th position in the Pacific Division and climbing up that ladder will need more than just some big names.

The Clippers boast some prominent names on their roster, and adding Harden was thought to be a good move. But that’s just on paper. They will have to formulate a chemistry that would bring together all these offensive powers to an efficient output. Former Hawks star Jeff Teague on the other hand blames Harden for the team’s poor form and performance. He expects Harden to do more than what he is currently doing in the Clippers.

Harden should have moments where he is by himself

In an episode of his Club520 podcast, the former NBA Champion says, “I love James but they need to let him have moments where he got the ball by hisself.” He believes that Harden should start the game, but he should contribute more than a part of second unit. Jeff even brings out a comparison he heard somewhere that said Harden is like a poor version of Tyrese Maxey; he is not as fast as Tyrese, but he can make shots and create space for himself.

Apart from finding his groove, Jeff says that Harden must mentor young players on the team. Jeff brings up the chemistry Harden shared with Tyrese while he was with the Sixers. He says, “And James Harden play well with Tyrese Maxey so like, let him have a young n**** that he can like, mold.” Harden could really benefit from having a young and promising player by his side that he can collaborate with and guide on the court.

A new chapter for James Harden with the Clippers

Harden has a notorious reputation for turbulent and dramatic exits from previous teams, that includes the Rockets, the Nets, and now the Sixers. With the Clippers, he is hoping to dispel some of the negative perceptions about him and show that he is still a top player who can bring a championship home alongside star players like Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George.
