“Every day at recess and lunch we’d go out on the court and shoot,” Harden declared of his earliest basketball passion. Additionally, James attributes the hard work and determination that propelled him to the NBA to his time as a student at Audubon.

Harden had a full circle moment in Audubon

At the tender age of 12, James Harden penned a note for his mom, “Could u wake me up at 7:00? And could u leave me a couple of dollars? P.S. Keep this paper. Imma be a star.”

Years later, as Harden stood on the brink of claiming his MVP trophy, he made sure to honor his middle school roots. Teaming up with Adidas, Harden orchestrated an “Imma Be a Star” block party, inviting students, friends, and family for a celebration.

Joined by Adidas Basketball’s general manager, Harden unveiled 12 fresh outdoor basketball courts for the school and announced plans to revamp the school gym before the start of the school year.

The event featured on-court activities with Harden and renowned local trainers. Furthermore, while showcasing a vibrant personality, he treated the students to live musical performances by Rick Ross and Famous Dex.
