The NBA has witnessed an unprecedented turn of events lately. A few years ago, if a trade that would team up James Harden with Kawhi Leonard was mentioned, it would send the fans into a frenzy. Now, this is not just viable but possibly on the cards too. Evidently, nothing has remained the same since The Beard’s trade request from the Philadelphia 76ers.

James Harden’s erratic trade saga has not settled all offseason. Despite the upcoming season nearing commencement, the uncertainty of the former MVP’s future in the NBA still looms large. Furthermore, the idea of Harden joining Kawhi Leonard seemed like the most fascinating narrative only until the Sixers burst the bubble. With uncertainty and tensions rising, a former Sixer dropped some wisdom on the trade saga.

Throughout the offseason, James Harden made efforts to take his talents elsewhere. From stating his trade destination publicly to burning bridges with Sixers teammates, the 10-time All-Star did it all. However, when he still did not get his wish, he retaliated in the most dramatic fashion possible. But has this further damaged his chances to get a trade out of Philadelphia? At least that is what the 3-time NBA champion, Danny Green opines.

Trade talks involving The Beard and Kawhi Leonard’s Los Angeles Clippers took the NBA world by storm this offseason. However, the Sixers unwillingness to trade Harden, combined with his erratic moves wrecked the narrative before it even began. Green remarked on this very situation that the two parties put themselves in.

I’m always gonna side with the player because I am a player. But also is that I don’t think he’s wrong. If he was promised something….you should come through with the promises” he said, following the infamous China incident.

He added “I do think that Daryl Morey is the guy that has the best interest at heart for James than anybody else in the league. Its just that, I think Daryl values his players a lot more than anybody else does….he’s not gonna trade James for anything. He wants to get value in return…” Talking about Harden’s trade to the $3.9B franchise, the 3-time champion opined “The Clippers are not gonna want to do that. So they may not value….because they don’t have to. I feel like….James has given them more leverage by saying I don’t want to be here anymore….

James Harden chose to burn bridges with the Sixers organisation through his statements in China. Despite the consequences, the 33-year-old put out a strong message for the franchise. However, this has still not moved a needle in his trade saga.

James Harden will enter the upcoming season on an expiring contract that pays him $35,640,000 for a year of work. However, he still remains with the Sixers with no signs of a trade happening anytime soon. Given this position, he will have to decide whether he remains with the franchise and continues to push for a championship alongside the reigning MVP, Joel Embiid or stays adamant about a trade.
