The 76ers had Tyrese Maxey in the ranks but Joel Embiid did not participate in the game due to a sprained right ankle. He averaged 40.2 points in December and has been the backbone of the 76ers’ superb run. Jimmy  Butler was out with a strained calf.
The rookie from Mexico Jaime Jaquez Jr proved reliable for the Heat against the 76ers. He played for 39 minutes and scored 31 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist. He thus wrote his name in the history books of the NBA to be the fifth rookie ever with a 30/10 game on Christmas Day. The last one to achieve the feat was Patrick Ewing in 1985.

After the game the Mexican star expressed happiness about how he was able to reap the results of the sweat he invested. He was happy that the big time came during Christmas. Jamie said,  “Definitely special. Great to get a win. Career night, on Christmas … I grew up watching these games. To be able to play and have a career night, it just, I just go back to all the hard work, late nights in the gym, just preparing for moments like this.”

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro too added 26 and 22 points respectively for the team but the performance of Jamie got deep admiration from the Heat coach.

The coach of the team Erik Spoelstra gave a snapshot view of how the Mexican star proved beneficial to the team. He said, “I don’t think I called one play for him tonight, literally. I mean, they were in his zone most of the second half. But throughout the rest of the course of the game, I definitely did not call it one play for him. And he did with offensive rebounding, transition, cuts, timely threes, just a lot of plays in between, so you don’t really think that it’s, you know, a 30-point game.”
