The New York Knicks stunned the Phoenix Suns with a 122-139 victory. Jalen Brunson of the Knicks had a blistering knock of 50 points. He became the sixth all-time in the NBA to record 50 points and 5 assists. His earlier career-high score stood at 48 points as the Knicks took the Suns by surprise.

Brunson was not just aiming at the rim, he was aiming at history. He became the first player since 1979-1980 to score 50+ points while shooting from 3-point range. Brunson stunned the Suns making 17 shots out of 23. He also bagged 5 steals in the game. With the win, the Knicks improved to 14-10 in the Eastern Conference. As other players joined the Brunson to take the Knicks to victory it kept adding frustration for the Suns. Later Kevin Durant opined on what worked well for the Knicks.

The Phoenix Suns got their sixth defeat in the past eight games and it was their second straight defeat at home too. They went down to a 13-12 record in the eastern conference. The fourth quarter battle was a decisive blow to the hopes of the Suns as Brunson and men crafted a 42-23 mayhem.

But Brunson alone was not the cause of frustration for the Suns. Quintin Grimes had surprises for many in his kitty, including Durant. Kevin Durant shared his comments in these notes in the media interaction later, “Quintin Grimes, he can’t get 6 3s up. He doesn’t dribble at all, he doesn’t have any free throws on the season. He doesn’t have any assists it feels like, but he’s getting 3s up? That’s the stuff we can’t have. It’s frustrating.”

Grimes and Quickley struck back-to-back 3’s as the fourth quarter began with the Knicks going ahead with every passing moment. Quinton played for 15 minutes and tallied 9 points with 3-6 three points,2 rebounds, and 1 assist. The fightback for the Suns was led by Durant with 29 points, Devin Booker with 28 points, and Jusuf Nurkic with 21 points.

But besides being deeply concerned about how they couldn’t do well in the game Durant was quick enough to show his trademark grace to the opponents in the defeat.

Kevin Durant’s admiration for the Knicks

Kevin Durant expressed frustration at how things didn’t work for them well enough. But he praised the positives of his opponents. He said that Brunson a “great scorer, got the confidence.” Further, he added that his franchise put him in the best possible position and that he could be a hall-of-fame player by the end of his career.

But whether things didn’t work for them or not, Kevin Durant was brutal in his verdict about the match. He said, “They made shots and got hot and aggressive. They killed us in the pick and roll and that was the game.”
