As the team USA gears up for the upcoming FIBA World Cup and Olympics next year, Irving points out an important sign. He went on to praise a 22-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves star for taking forward the Kobe Bryant legacy. Moreover, while praising the star, he also revealed an untold truth about the team USA.
The Dallas Mavericks star took the US to two gold medals in 2014 FIBA World Cup and in 2016 Olympics during his stint donning the National jersey. Now that the men’s World Cup is around the corner, Irving took a closer look at the current US team while streaming on Twitch. The team will lock horns with New Zealand, Jordan, and Greece in their group stage to qualify for the next round.

During his recent Twitch stream, Kyrie Irving watched the highlights of the US’s exhibition game against Puerto Rico. The US team featured stars like Austin Reaves, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, and many more. However, when he spotted Wolves star Anthony Edwards, he revealed a hidden secret behind the jersey #10.
The Mavericks star said, “Look at all the people who wore #10. It’s not a coincidence that some of the best of the best have worn #10… It’s all planned out, legacy talk here.” Notably, Edwards donned #1 for his NBA franchise whereas for the US team wears #10. As Irving mentioned the legacy behind the #10, it was previously worn by the Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. Black Mamba, notably, won two Olympic Gold medals for the country.
