The fate of Kevin Porter Jr. took an unexpected twist following a significant turn of events. The district attorney removed significant charges against the NBA star who was imprisoned for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. Sources say ‘insufficient evidence’ against the 23-year-old shooting guard prompted this decision from the district attorney’s office.
This decision has left a cloud of uncertainty as the NBA world took notice of it. The emerging details with time made the case more complex, as the future of the player remains at risk.

The Houston Rockets youngster faced multiple assault charges as he allegedly broke his partner’s neck during a fight. Recently, the Manhattan prosecutors dropped one of those charges reportedly due to “insufficient evidence”. Assistant District Attorney Mirah Cruzer publicly said so as the office filed a motion to remove a second-degree assault charge.
The alleged injuries of Kevin’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, were not “caused by the defendant,” Mirah stated. The fracture to the neck of the WNBA player was apparently due to a birth defect. Her fractured vertebrae reportedly turned out to be a congenital defect, relieving the NBA star from one charge.
Thus, the alleged assaults in New York started to reveal a different side to the story with time. According to reports, the Rockets player hit and choked Gondrezick until she could not breathe. It all allegedly happened before she ran to the hallway and a hotel employee found her. Because of the incident, Kevin found himself under uncertainty as one question loomed in the corner.

What’s next for the NBA player?
The Judge dropped the charges under the condition that Porter Jr. would stay away from physical altercations in the future. He still faced two other charges; one second-degree strangulation and one third-degree assault. Thus, the Seattle-born could face a 7-year maximum if found guilty. The next court date has been set for November 27 while the infamous Rockets guard remains out on a $75,000 bail.
His NBA career seems more complicated than ever, as the franchise doesn’t want him back. The team’s general manager Rafael Stone made it clear that the Rockets did not want the player back. They started their pre-season without Kevin to keep them off of negative publicity.
