Darvin Ham certainly has his sense of humor intact. Ahead of what’s going to be quite a sensational Knicks-Lakers game tonight, Ham was in his pre-game presser. When asked what he thought about LeBron James’ viral hourglass emoji tweet on X, the Lakers coach had a hilarious reaction.

James had started a mini “Decision” segment on X when he posted an hourglass emoji after the Atlanta loss, sparking speculations of a potential trade. “Shit, I would’ve put out two or three hourglass emojis by now,” Darvin Ham responded.

A few hours before Bron decided to turn to cryptography, the 4x champion did nothing to hide his frustration with the losses that were piling up. They had just come off a 138-122 loss to the Hawks. And D’Angelo Russell, who’s been putting up some big numbers this season, didn’t provide much spark either against the Lakers’ trade interest, Dejounte Murray.

Long story short, the veterans got beaten by a pair of young core teams – Atlanta and before that, Houston. None of them were the most charming of defeats either. So, to see Bron post an ominous emoji hours later, especially with so many factors running parallel, served to create a general atmosphere of mayhem.

But his agent, Rich Paul, was quick to shut down any such rumors.

Paul didn’t waste time being diplomatic, as he bluntly said that no trade was happening before the trade deadline. Amusingly enough, his long-time friend and client wasn’t done with playing with ciphers just yet. James lit fire to the rumor mill once again with another tweet.

This time, it was a pair of emojis – a crown and the Statue of Liberty. And if that wasn’t enough, LeBron went ahead with some pointed statements on playing for the Knicks. “Its the Mecca of Basketball … and for me to be able to grace that floor in my career, it’s always been my dream.”

He also mentioned that he was still undecided about his contract option to remain with the Lakers, as well as kept mum about his initial tweet. Another deciding factor in the increasing rumors was Rich Paul himself. The Klutch Sports founder ended his cold war with the Knicks President on Friday.

With that stumbling block also out of the way, there doesn’t seem anything that stands in the way of a potential LeBron move. Unless the Purple & Gold show the ‘Akron Hammer’ a change in their ways, the Jalen Brunson-led New York could end up being LeBron’s NBA retirement home.
