The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the most belligerent NBA rivals. These two have competed in 22 series, with Celtics winning 15 of them. As a matter of fact, the battle for the best continued in game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals this year as well.?

The history of rivalry between the franchises added a lot of excitement to the match. As though this wasn?t enough, the 76ers MVP, Joel Embiid, stomped on an ex-Celtics head during the last quarter.

Game 3 of the Eastern Conference was particularly competitive this year. Especially when both teams were desperate for a win. The Boston Celtics? forward Grant Williams, who got recently acquired by the Dallas Mavericks, got stepped on his head by the 76ers? Joel Embiid. The incident happened during the last quarter with Williams and Jaylen Brown on the court.?

In a podcast hosted by Tidal League, the host Theo Penson told Williams, ?You went through a lot of sh*t in the playoffs..you got a 280, 290, 320 lbs, bro whatever the hell he is, stepped on your head?and you didn?t know what happened…?

Williams said that he felt his face going into the ground as soon as he made a dive for the ball. In that instant, Grant felt as though ?his teeth had went through? his lips.

The impact of the curb stomping was serious. Williams checked for blood as soon as he got up. ?I get up and I?m like trying to check and see if my nose is broken,? he recalled.?

Williams was bleeding through his nose after the incident. He feels he was lucky because the injury could have been worse. ?Luckily, luckily,” Williams said, “he [Embiid] didn?t like land his weight on it?he kind of like leaned to the left??

Joel Embiid’s falling down and stepping on Williams looked accidental. But according to Williams, Embiid was ?falling a lot that season.?

Intentional or not, Williams survived the injury and won the match by 12 points. Embiid scored 30 points, but ultimately, Celtics took the lead by 2-1.?
