LeBron James, as brilliant as he is on the court, has had a career filled with controversies. While there’s no doubt that the Lakers superstar has been one of the greatest NBA players ever; there is no denying that sometimes, he resorts to dirty tactics on the floor. In fact, fans around the world have given him a nickname, LeFlop. This is a reference to his numerous attempts at fooling officials during a minimal contact play in order to draw a foul.

Despite being the highest-earning player in NBA history, King James has amassed a huge number of fines across his brilliant career spanning over two decades.

How much has LeBron James paid in fines?

James has had a long playing career in the NBA, which started in 2003. Apart from earning huge salaries from different teams during his brilliant career, LeBron has also paid some huge fines.

In fact, the four-time NBA champion has paid around $400k in fines alone! According to Sportrac, the Billionaire has paid $379,004 in various fines across his career with the Heat, Cavaliers, and Lakers.

Interestingly, his latest fine came during the game against the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic during the Western Conference Finals. King James paid $2,000 due to a technical foul received during one of the four games. Despite his best efforts, The Joker and the Nuggets swept the Lakers 4-0.

James’ biggest fine came in 2021. During a game against the Detroit Pistons, LeBron James elbowed Isiah Stewart, which led to an altercation on the court. Moreover, the 38-year-old also bloodied Stewart, which led to his second ejection across his 21-year-long NBA career. The league fined him a whopping $284,004 and also suspended him for one game.

James might have to dish out some more cash next season

LeBron James is infamous for his flopping habits on the court. Flopping refers to the act of falling down on purpose during a minimal or no-contact play in order to influence a decision in favor of him.

After trying out some new rules in the NBA Summer League, the league association has officially introduced a new rule which will penalize flopping. Any player found guilty will be awarded a foul and will be fined. Interestingly, LeBron James is one favorite to be the first player to receive this foul, according to Sports Illustrated.
