After a heartbreaking loss in the conference finals, LeBron James must be aiming for a comeback with the help of Anthony Davis. Recently, the 4-time champion even hyped up the 8-time All-Star as he called the latter the face of the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, LeBron’s trust in his teammate arrived only hours after Kevin Garnett’s doubts.
The retired NBA legend raised concerns over Davis’ capability as he questioned his mentality publicly. The contrasting remarks stirred arguments as the pre-season began in a full-fledged manner.

On the media day for the Lakers, the 38-year-old shared his opinions on his squad ahead of a new season. In the midst of it, he described Anthony as “the face” of the franchise. Many suspected that James directed these words toward the people doubting the 30-year-old center, with Kevin being one of them.
In the latest episode of CERTIFIED SMOKE, the 2008 NBA champion discussed whether Davis could become a talisman. “I don’t know if he has that type of energy or that engine,” Garnett stated, voicing his disagreement and raising concern. He then used a comic book reference to explain his perspective on the mindset.
“I don’t see him as the Batman,” the 47-year-old mentioned before adding, “I think he’s gonna always be a great Robin”. Kevin further highlighted how he perceived Anthony as more of a ‘number 2’ because a team could not “win games” with just him. The 15-time All-Star also talked about the greatness he saw in the 6’10 during his younger days.
He stated, “I’ve seen splashes of it,” before pointing out how his fellow NBA 75th Anniversary Team member failed to carry it forward. Garnett did not hold himself back as he urged Davis to learn from LeBron, asking, “Why y’all ain’t working out together?“. The contempt from the former MVP continued as the Lakers nation only hoped for one thing.

A healthy Anthony Davis
In his 10 years in the league so far, the talented individual has silenced everyone with his performances numerous times. Those often take a backseat for only one reason; his lack of fitness throughout the season. In his past three regular seasons, he never played more than 60 games.
The frustration within the community mainly arises from this. His health affects his consistency in outputs on the court, costing the team at times. Still, there has been no active effort from Davis to turn things around. Things such as this prompt former NBA champions like Garnett to doubt his mindset.
