Pop sensation Shakira’s troubles are far from over. Known for her close proximity with the sporting world, the singer is now facing an edict over her alleged past conduct. The charges resurfaced when the music icon known for her Waka Waka soccer anthem was trying to move on from her sour relationship with retired footballer Gerard Pique. After divorcing Pique, she reportedly dated F1 racer Lewis Hamilton before starting an intimate relationship with NBA superstar Jimmy Butler. But now the singer is back to square one.

Shakira is under the scanner after a Barcelona judge opened up an old case. The gravity of the matter prompted her PR team to send a sharp rebuttal claiming her innocence. The court drama started on the heels of a new beginning in the singer’s life. 

Trouble in paradise for Jimmy Butler’s beau Shakira?

As per CNN, an investigative magistrate of the municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat, which is based in Barcelona, has called for an investigation into two alleged counts of tax fraud in 2018.

The Colombian sensation has already been awaiting a trial for 2012, 2013, and 2014 tax years. As per a judge near Barcelona, “sufficient evidence” exists for a tax fraud trial, in which evasion of around $16.2 million has been alleged.

Shakira’s public relations team claimed innocence and released the following statement, “As has been stated on numerous occasions, Shakira defends having always acted in compliance with the law and under the guidance of the best tax experts. Now she is focused on her artistic life in Miami and is calm and confident in a favorable resolution to her tax affairs”

Since Miami is located in Florida, there are a lot of tax breaks on offer for multi-millionaire celebrities. However, these pending matters in Spain have been a cause of concern for the sensational singer who has a net worth of around $300 million. She was in great spirits recently when news broke out that she was dating Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler. The rumors of their romance were confirmed by Shakira after the two were spotted having dinner in London.

After fighting for around a year after their divorce, Pique and Shakira reached an amicable solution regarding the custody of their children, Sasha and Milan. Ultimately, the Colombian sensation received the custody of both her children. 

After living for eight years in Barcelona, both the kids and their mother moved to Miami to start afresh.
